The Tunisian Association of Midwives (ATSF) is a non-governmental organization created in 1989 with the aim to contribue to mother and child health promotion and to midwifery practice development in Tunisia.
Its mission is to strengthen midwifery practice in the country through:
- •The guarantee a climate in favor of continuous professional development and skill reinforcement, including through the organization of specific training sessions and periodic scientific conferences related to the latest scientific evidence in the field.
- •Mobilization for an improved midwifery practice regulation in the country to ensure a favorable framework for integrated, ethical and quality health services.
Being member of the International Confederation of Midwives, and rich of its large member network of more than 2000 midwives across the country, the association, through its national and the various regional offices, implements a participatory approach and build on its solid partnerships, including with public structures, learned societies, and international organizations, for its mission fulfillment.
As an official implementing partner of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) - Tunisia office since 2021, the ATSF benefits from the technical and financial support of the agency to consolidate its capacities with the aim of contributing to ensuring equitable access to quality integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services for women, adolescents and young people, including in humanitarian and emergency settings.
