Awareness Campaign - Gustave Flaubert High SchoolGender Equality and Gender-Based Violence
Awareness campaign for high school students
In partnership with the French Institute in Tunisia (Institut Français en Tunisie) and as part of its awareness campaigns on gender based violence, UNFPA Tunisia targeted the students of Gustave Flaubert High school in order to introduce them to the importance of gender equality and the elimination of all forms of gender based violence.
The pilot version of this activity entitled “Gender equality and gender-based violence” took place on Tuesday the 8th of June 2021 and Wednesday the 9th in the presence of groups of teenagers aged between 14 and 15 years old. The group had the opportunity to learn more about basic notions related to the issue through a series of games and exercises initiating them to the forms of violence that may affect them, and the means of protection and reporting of such incidents.
The sessions created a safe space for exchange with the adults of tomorrow, who were able to address the daily challenges they are facing. And through a series of case studies, they were able to recognize the basics of their prerogatives and the impact of their role in the fight against gender-based inequalities.

Workshop on the use of GBV Victims’ Security Compromission Assessment tool and launch of the testing phase in the government of Ben Arous
The tool for assessing the security compromise of women victims of violence
In partnership with UNFPA Tunisia, the National Office for Family and Population (ONFP) has held a training workshop on the use of the GBV Victims’ Security Compromission Assessment tool, developed by the ONFP and UNFPA within the Joint Program for the Improvement of Multisectoral Care for Women and Girls Victims of Violence.
This tool aims to encourage stakeholders to identify apparent, hidden, direct and indirect factors, to take into account interrelated and alarming factors and to standardize the assessment process in order to intervene in accordance with the degree of risk
It is intended for any service provider in the field, involved in the care of women victims of violence and includes a rating scale that specifically explores five axes: An axis relating to violence
- •An axis relating to the victim
- •An axis relating to the author
- •An axis centered on the nature of the link between the two protagonists
- •An axis that explores the environment
The rating scale is accompanied by a user guide explaining the different areas of assessment and the action to be taken according to the coding obtained; green, orange or red.
The training workshop, held at the Psychological Assistance Center (CAP) of Ben Arous, brought together key actors in the care for women and girls victims of violence in the governorate of Ben Arous, representing the five sectors concerned, namely the Ministry of Women Affairs, Family and the Elderly, the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Social Affairs. This workshop also marks the start of the testing phase of the tool and its user guide, which will last for five months, before generalizing its use to all service providers involved in the care of women victims of violence.

Training on the production of indicators on gender-based violence from administrative records
Since 2015, UNFPA Tunisia and its partner CREDIF have been engaged in the process of setting up a national strategy for the production of indicators on the gender-based violence incidents that have reached the Tunisian state, in order to measure their scale and improve their monitoring.
This process began with the elaboration of the National Strategy for the Production of Indicators on Gender-Based Violence from Administrative Records, followed by sectoral workshops organized throughout 2018. The workshops made it possible to further delve into sectoral needs and enrich the recommendations regarding the implementation of the strategy by sector.
In 2019, a report studying the current state of implementation of this strategy was elaborated. One of its major recommendations that came out of this report concerns the capacity building of the actors involved in the recording of data and the production of indicators on gender-based violence from administrative records.
As such, UNFPA and CREDIF worked thereafter on the elaboration of training modules specific to each sector concerned by the strategy, namely, the Ministry of Women Affairs, Family and, the Elderly, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Social Affairs and Ministry of the Interior Affairs. These modules will be used in delivering training workshops on the production of indicators on gender-based violence from administrative records.
