Workshop The finalization of the 2021-2030 SRH national plan

During the first quarter of 2021, UNFPA Tunisia CO worked to support the stakeholders AND national partners to improve and to ensure a high quality of essential SRH services, in particular preventable maternal deaths.

In coordination with the National Board of Family and Population, UNFPA Tunisia CO organized, from January 11 to 13, 2021, a workshop to develop the operational and M&E plans for the implementation of the 2021-2030 SRH national plan. This was an opportunity to gather experts and key stakeholders from government institutions and civil society organizations, who debated and agreed on the priority actions that will ensure the vision of the plan is achieved: by 2030, every human being in Tunisia enjoys all their fundamental rights in sexual and reproductive health, in an equitable, harmonious manner and adapted to their needs throughout their life cycle and without discrimination, coercion or violence, such as guaranteed by the Constitution, including in crisis situations.

Maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response

As part of the support for the implementation of the national maternal and neonatal health strategy 2020 - 2024 and the improvement of the quality of services administered to pregnant women during childbirth and newborns in order to avoid maternal and perinatal deaths, UNFPA Tunisia CO organized from March 12 to 18, 2021, in collaboration with the Directorate of Basic Health Care (DSSB) two series of workshops to reflect on tools for data collection and sensitization of supervising midwives on the maternal death surveillance system, bringing together supervising midwives who work in 24 governorates.

The workshops highlighted the importance of MPDSR (Maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response) and explored the gaps in the system from midwives' perspective. During the event, comments of the participants on the newly proposed data collection tools were collected and integrated, and finally, it was an opportunity to present the findings of the national study conducted by UNFPA Tunisia CO in 2020 on the quality and access to SRH services.
